Berlin

Once the capital of Prussia and a leading cultural centre of the 1920s, today the new capital of Germany is characterised by its dazzling modernity and breathtaking architecture. Berlin brings many major events of modern history to life, offering fascinating insights into economic and cultural differences of a divided and reunited nation. It is a progressive city with unique history from the Prussian kings to the Weimar Republic, the rise and fall of Nazis,
and where East finally met West.
Berlin has a vibe all of its own, and wherever you go, you can experience the pulsating life on the streets and boulevards, in the art galleries and at the flea markets. Since reunification the city has become a magnet for artists
and many of the city’s world-class collections have been reformed in their rightful place. Berlin has reclaimed its position as Germany’s premier city with rich cultural pickings (three opera houses, eight symphony orchestras and
more than 150 sites for drama), a thriving nightlife and dazzling new architectural triumphs. The result is a culturally diverse, dynamic and exciting capital at the forefront of European youth culture.
