Poland
Poland is one of the largest countries in Europe but until the advent of ‘cheap’ flights was probably seen as out of reach to a school trip.
There are many interesting and informative places to visit in Poland, indeed it has 13 UNESCO World Heritage sights. There’s the capital, Warsaw, and Gdansk, the birth place of Solidarity. But the main attraction, for want of a better word, is the site of the infamous Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp near Krakow, where 1 ½ million victims of Nazi atrocity met their deaths.
